What is Counselling?

Counselling is a type of talking therapy that allows you to talk in a safe, confidential place about your life and anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable. It allows you to talk with someone who is trained to listen attentively and to help you improve things.

A counsellor is trained to listen with empathy (experiencing your world). They can help you deal with any negative thoughts and feelings that you have.

Therapy is a very personal process. Sometimes it is necessary to talk about painful feelings or difficult decisions, so you may go through a period of feeling worse than when you started. However, therapy should enable you to feel better in the long-run.

Sometimes life throws obstacles in our path, and we are unable to deal with them alone, this is where counselling can be very helpful, together we can find the best way forward, and get your life back on track. You may find it really helpful to talk things through with a qualified professional in a nurturing, non-judgemental, confidential space.
